Typical Faults:

1. Sprag Spring Fatigue

   • Symptom: Harsh reverse engagement or 1-2 shift flare (P0730)

   • Cause: Repeated torque reversals weakening springs

2. Inner Race Wear

   • Symptom: Grinding noise in reverse

   • Trigger: Hardened ATF failing to lubricate contact surfaces

3. Hub Spline Stripping

   • Symptom: No movement in reverse (with forward gears working)

   • Root Cause: Improper heat treatment during manufacturing

Critical Checks:

• Sprag Engagement: Must lock counterclockwise only

• Radial Play: >0.2mm = replacement

• Race Scoring: Visible grooves = immediate failure
